“North Wing” of our home, Waikoloa Village, near Shopping Center
ABOVE PHOTO:
View of our big, beautiful “two-generation” home, 2,400 sq ft. The North Wing is 1,200 sq ft. We,esoecislly Thomas, have spent much of the last eight months landscaping the entire oversized lot with new lawns–5 grass varieties including Japanese temple grass/zoyshia– and flower/rock gardens, etc.. It is quite idyllic I must say.
NORTH WING OVERALL DETAILS
The home is split by a big central hallway dividing the North and South wings.
(We live int the South Wing with tis own entrance.) The North Wing was designed originally as the “Master side,” has 2 bedrooms, –a beautiful Master Bedroom and a spacious 2nd bedroom. It also has a partly-roofed fully enclosed 15‘X20’ patio with a lock/key door entrance... that we remodeled into a kitchenette/dining area– adding a big refrigerator, new double stainless sink, redwood counter, redwood plank flooring on one side. We also added a gas stove, microwave and big handsome wall-mounted storage cabinet for non-frig food stuffs, pans, dining/cooking ware/utensils, etc. We also decorated the area with 3 cut-in-half wine caskets each with palm trees. Also added a glass top dining table and chairs. The kitchenette/dining area is now so attractive and a joy to cook and dine there. AND, there is also another INDOOR dining room 16‘X16’, ceramic-tiled patio between the two bedrooms with another glass top dining table and chairs in case you want to dine inside. When the North Wing has two renters they “share” use of this room, shower/vanity/bath area and the dining/kitchenette patio. Both rooms have their own individuals locks and side/front entrance as well as exit through back indoor patio to rear yard.

NOVEMBER 2014 UPDATE. (Note: some info below may be outdated)
Greetings,
My husband Thomas and I moved here from Tokyo three years ago. Thomas is American, Columbia University educated
and founded a school in Japan. I am Japanese, also well educated. In March 2012 we purchased a big beautiful
"two-generation" home in Waikoloa Village... one of the closest homes to the WV shopping center. . .
... 2,400 sq ft redwood, elegant with unique two-wing design. . . divided into two halves, "wings"
....Very tranquil setting, corner lot, horseshoe double entry/exit driveway. . ..
... Quiet cultured neighbors. Backyard borders the Waikoloa Village golf course
Property totally encircled by 30-year old flowering oleander hedge, adding optimal private,
serene atmosphere. We left behind our two schools in Tokyo hit hard by the “2008 financial ‘drought’ that hit Tokyo too.
We are both teachers by profession, (Oh, My husband is also a professional writer/editor and landscape architect)
.....anyway we are happy here. We expected our teenage daughters would join us, but they finally decided to stay with grandparents in Japan and continue their education there, so we decided to remodel the North Wing in order to rent.”
